Getting children interested in attractions

As adults, we understand the significance of the attractions we are visiting.  We know that the Eiffel Tower was an engineering feat in 1887.  Or how incredible it is that the Greek ruins are around today to view.  But sometimes it's hard for children to fully comprehend what they are seeing.  Here are a few quick tips to help get them more engaged.

Books

Find age-appropriate books will interest your child. Seeing a character experience the city will give them context about the city and attractions.  Getting a sense of local life or how things used to be can inspire their imagination while visiting the place. 

Timed entry tickets

Avoid antsy kids waiting in line by getting timed entry tickets.  Timed tickets decrease your wait times and let you use your time more efficiently.  It will also help you realize how much you are planning in a day to avoid getting over-tired family members (children and adults alike!)

Games

Spice up trips to the museum by picking out your favorites, or "If the building was on fire, I'd save this piece" in each gallery.  Think of other creative games you can play at each destination to help entertain your kids and point out different aspects.

Photos

Think of creative ways you can take photos of your family. Is holding up the leaning tower of Pisa cliche? Yes. Will it inspire giggles? Absolutely. And fun memories and unique photos will last a lifetime.
